आवारा व्यक्ति के प्रति कहते हैं अर्थात जिसका कहीं ठिकाना न हो, जो व्यक्ति किसी तरफ़ का न हो उसके प्रति भी व्यंगात्मक तौर पर कहते हैं
विशेष • इस लोकोक्ति के बारे में, कुछ लोग कहते हैं कि कुत्ते की जगह 'कत्का' है और 'कत्का' 'ख़त्का का बिगड़ा हुआ रूप है अर्थात वह लकड़ी जिससे धोबी कपड़े को कुचलते हैं, क्योंकि कत्का के भारी होने के कारण धोबी न तो उसे घर लाता है और न ही खो जाने के भय से घाट पर छोड़ता है, बल्कि रेत में कहीं छुपा देता है।

مثال • اس کہاوت میں بعض لوگ کہتے ہیں کہ کتے کی جگہ 'کتکا' ہے اور کتکا بگاڑا ہوا 'ختکا' کا ہے یعنی وہ لکڑی جس سے دھوبی کپڑا کچلتے ہیں، کیوں کہ کتکہ کے بوجھ کی وجہ سے دھوبی نہ تو اسے گھر لاتا ہے اور نہ گھاٹ پر گم ہونے کے ڈر سے چھوڑتا ہے بلکہ ریت میں کسی جگہ چھپا دیتا ہے۔
