عیسیٰ اصل میں یہ لفظ مع الف مقصورہ ہے، ’’عیسیٰ‘‘، لیکن شعر میں اسے’’عیسی‘‘ بروزن’’بیسی‘‘ بھی استعمال کرتے ہیں، خاص کر جب یہ مرکب آئے، مثلاً ’’عیسی دوراں‘‘۔ ایسی صورت میں اسے ’’عیسی‘‘ ہی لکھنا چاہئے اور الف مقصورہ نہ لگا نا چاہئے۔ یہی صورت ’’موسیٰ‘‘ کی ہے۔ ’’موسیٰ عمراں‘‘ میں الف مقصورہ لکھنا یا بولنا غلط ہے۔ غالب کی مشہور غزل ’’دہر میں نقش وفا وجہ تسلی نہ ہوا‘‘ میں قوافی ’’تسلی، معنی، راضی‘‘ وغیرہ ہیں۔ لہٰذا مصرع ’’یہ زمرد بھی حریف دم عیسیٰ نہ ہوا‘‘ میں’’عیسیٰ‘‘ بروزن ’’بیسی‘‘ ہی پڑھیں گے۔
