(معماری) عمارت میں بنائی جانے والی وہ سیڑھیاں جن کا ایک سرا دیوار پر رکھا جاتا ہے اور دوسرا سرا بلا سہارے کے چھوڑ دیا جاتا ہے ، یہ اپنی سہارا دینے والی دیوار میں کم از کم نو انچ اندر مضبوطی اور استحکام کے ساتھ سیمنٹ میں بٹھائی جاتی ہیں اور چونکہ ہر ایک سیڑھی اپنی نیچے والی سیڑھی کے سہارے پر رہتی ہے اس لیے دونوں کا درمیانی جوڑ اس طرح بنایا جاتا ہے کہ دباؤ نیچے کی منزل پر سیڑھیوں کے خط کے برابر منتقل ہوتا رہے ۔
