آراضی بمعنی’’زمین، زمینیں‘‘، اصل میں’’اراضی‘‘ ہے، لیکن عام طور سے زبانوں پر الف ممدودہ کے ساتھ ’’آراضی‘‘ ہے۔ شیکسپیئر اور پلیٹس میں’’آراضی‘‘ کا ذکر نہیں، لیکن امیرمینائی نے لکھا ہے کہ لوگ لاعلمی کے سبب ’’اراضی‘‘ کو’’آراضی‘‘ بولتے ہیں۔ دیبی پرشاد سحر بدایونی نے بھی ’’آراضی‘‘ کو صحیح قراردیا ہے۔ یہ باتیں اس بات کاثبوت ہیں کہ لفظ ’’آراضی‘‘ کوئی سو، سوا سو برس سے رائج ہے۔ فی الحال دونوں کو درست ماننا چاہئے۔ اور قوی امکان ہے کہ کچھ دنوں بعد ’’اراضی‘‘ بالکل غلط قرار دیا جائے۔
