معاینہ عربی قاعدے سے’’عین‘‘ کو باب مفاعلہ میں لے جاتے ہیں اور’’معایَنہ‘‘ بفتح تحتانی حاصل کرتے ہیں۔ لیکن اردو میں لوگ بیش از بیش ’’معائِنہ‘‘ مع ہمزہ اور مع کسرۂ ہمزہ لکھتے ہیں اور یہی درست ہے۔ ’’معاینہ‘‘ پہلے بھی بہت کم رائج تھا، اب کئی دہائیوں سے بالکل رائج نہیں ہے۔ اردو کے عمل کے لحاظ سے ’’معاینہ‘‘ اب غلط ہے۔
