عصمت یہ لفظ بکسر اول اور بسکون دوم ہے۔ بعض لوگوں کی زبان پر یہ بفتح اول ہے۔ یہ تلفظ (عین بالفتح) غلط تو ہے لیکن ہے اتنا پرانا کہ ’’غیاث‘‘، ’’آنند راج‘‘، اور’’نور‘‘ نے بطور خاص لکھا ہے کہ بالفتح غلط ہے۔ ان دنوں اردو میں بہرحال یہ بہت کم سننے میں آتا ہے، لہٰذا اسے غلط قراردینا اور ترک کرنا ہی بہتر ہے۔
