عملیہ انگریزی لفظ Operation بمعنی ’’عمل جراحی‘‘ کے لئے پہلے’’عملیہ‘‘ اور پھر’’عمل جراحی‘‘ بنایا گیا۔ ’’عملیہ‘‘ تو اب بالکل نہیں ملتا، لیکن تحریری اردو میں ’’عمل جراحی‘‘ اب بھی مل جاتا ہے اور میں بھی اسے ہی مرجح سمجھتا ہوں۔ اور فوجی اصطلاح Operation کے لئے تو’’عملیہ‘‘ بہترین لفظ ہے، کم سے کم تحریر کی حد تک۔
