- (पदार्थ) जिसका एक सिरा उसके दूसरे सिरे से अधिक दूरी पर हो। जिसके दोनों सिरों के बीच का विस्तार बहुत हो। ' चौड़ा ' का विपर्यय। जैसे-लंबा कपड़ा, लंबे बाल, लंबी लाठी। पद-लंबा-चौड़ा = (क) जिसका आयतन और विस्तार दोनों बहुत अधिक हों। जैसे-लंबा-चौड़ा मैदान। (ख) अनावश्यक और असाधारण रूप से व्यर्थ बढ़ाया हुआ। जैसे-लंबी-चौड़ी बातें करना।
- जो ऊपर की ओर दूर तक उठा हो। अपेक्षया अधिक ऊँचाईवाला। जैसे-लंबा आदमी, लंबा पेड़, लंबा बाँस आदि।
- ऊँचाई में दूर तक जाने वाला; ऊँचा, जैसे- लंबा वृक्ष
- आड़ेपन या क्षैतिज रेखा में दूर तक विस्तृत, जैसे- लंबा रास्ता
