- وہ جشن جو پیش دادیوں کے چوتھے پاد شاہ جمشید کی طرف منسوب ہے، ایران قدیم کی ایک مشہور عمارت تخت جمشید نامی اسی بنائی ہوئی تھی اس عمارت کے کھنڈر اب بھی باقی ہیں یہ اس وقت کی یادگار ہے جب آفتاب (اس بادشاہ کے زمانے میں) موسم بہار کے اول گھر میں آیا اور رات دن برابر ہوگئے، اس موقع پر جمشیدی جشن اسی عمارت میں منایا گیا اور اس دن کا نام نو روز رکھا گیا (اس طرح جشن جمشیدی اور نو روز ایک ہی تقریب کے دو نام ہیں).
