جان کاری/جانکاری ’’اطلاع، معلومات، واقفیت‘‘ کے معنی میں یہ لفظ کم پڑھے لکھے ہندی والوں کی اختراع ہے۔ اس سے معنی یا معنویت میں کوئی اضافہ نہیں ہوتا، اور یہ بھونڈا اور بدصورت الگ ہے۔ ’’معلومات‘‘، ’’اطلاع‘‘ کے معنی میں یہ لفظ پچپن ستاون برس پہلے ہندوستانی عیسائیوں کی زبان پر تھے۔ پھر اسے ہندی نے اپنا لیا، اور اب یہ غیر ضروری اور فضول لفظ اردو میں بھی سنا جانے لگا ہے۔ اسے ترک ہونا چاہئے۔ اس کا ایک صرف اور بھی ہے، اور وہ بھی ہندی والوں کی اختراع ہے، کہ اسے ’’جانتے ہوئے‘‘ کے معنی میں بولا جائے: غلط اور قبیح: میں اپنی جانکاری میں تو ایسا نہ ہونے دوں گا۔ صحیح: میں اپنے جانتے ہوئے تو۔۔۔ غلط اور قبیح: یہ بات میری جانکاری میں نہیں ہے۔ صحیح: یہ بات میرے علم میں نہیں ہے۔
