حرج عربی میں بفتحین ہے۔ اردو میں اول مفتوح اور دوم ساکن بولا جاتا ہے، لہٰذا اردو میں بروزن ’’فرض‘‘ ہی مرجح ہے۔ یہ لفظ اور’’ہرج‘‘ تقریباً ہم معنی ہیں۔’’ہرج‘‘ کا عام اردو تلفظ بفتحین ہے، لیکن عربی میں یہ بروزن ’’فرض‘‘ یعنی اول مفتوح اور دوم ساکن کے ساتھ بولا جاتا ہے۔ اردو میں ’’ہرج‘‘ بفتحین یعنی بروزن ’’مرض‘‘ ہی مرجح ہے، لیکن کوئی بروزن ’’فرض‘‘ بولے تو غلط نہ ہوگا ۔’’ہرجانہ‘‘ بمعنی ’’تاوان‘‘ اہل اردو نے فارسی طرز پر بنا لیا ہے، ورنہ ظاہر ہے کہ یہ عربی میں نہیں ہے۔ فارسی میں بھی نہیں ہے۔ ’’ہرجانہ‘‘ میں البتہ اول مفتوح اور دوم ساکن ہے۔
