غلطی عام خیال یہ ہے کہ یہ لفظ فارسی میں نہیں ہے، اردو میں مہند بالعربی ہے۔ اور اسی بنا پر غالب پراعتراض کیا گیا کہ انھوں نے ’’غلطی ‘‘کی جمع ’’غلطیہا‘‘ بنائی اور پھر اسے فارسی کے طور پر مضاف بھی کردیا، غالب ؎ غلطی ہائے مضامیں مت پوچھ لوگ نالے کو رسا باندھتے ہیں حقیقت یہ ہے کہ’’غلطی‘‘ کا لفظ جدید فارسی میں موجود ہے، اور پرانی فارسی میں بھی تھا، اگرچہ ثقہ لوگ اس کا استعمال نہ کرتے تھے۔ ’’غیاث اللغات‘‘ نے اسے فارسی مانا ہے مگر لکھا ہے کہ اسے ناواقف لوگ ہی استعمال کرتے ہیں۔ ’’نوراللغات‘‘ میں بھی کم و بیش یہی ہے اور پھر غالب کا منقولہ بالا شعر درج کرکے صاحب ’’نور‘‘ نے لکھا ہے کہ غالب یہاں مستند نہیں۔ غالب مستند ہوں نہ ہوں، لیکن لفظ ’’غلطی‘‘ فارسی میں ہے، چاہے ’’نیچی‘‘ فارسی (Low Persian) میں ہو، لہٰذا اسے فارسی قاعدے سے مضاف کرسکتے ہیں۔ دوسری، اور بنیادی بات یہ ہے کہ اگر’’غلطی‘‘ دیسی ہی لفظ ہے، فارسی نہیں ہے، تو بھی اسے فارسی/عربی لفظ کے ساتھ مرکب کرنے میں کوئی ہرج نہیں۔ پہلے زمانے میں اس کا رواج تھا اور اسے ترک کرکے ہم نے اپنی زبان کی ایک بڑی قوت کو کم کردیا ہے۔
