دوئی واؤ معروف غیرملفوظ، بروزن فَعَل یا بروزن ’’ہوئی‘‘، بمعنی ’’دو ہونا، انگریزی میں Twoness، غیریت‘‘، فارسی میں یہ لفظ نہیں ہے۔ پلیٹس کا کہنا ہے کہ یہ ’’دوا‘‘ بمعنی’’دو کا پتہ، یا پانسے میں دو کا نشان‘‘ وغیرہ کی تانیث ہے۔ حقیقت یہ ہے کہ ’’دوا‘‘ کی تانیث کی حیثیت سے اس کے معنی ’’دو ہونا، یا Twoness‘‘ نہیں، اور’’دوا‘‘ میں واؤ پوری ادا کی جاتی ہے۔ اس کے برخلاف ’’دوئی‘‘ میں واؤ صرف اعراب بالحرف کا کام کرتا ہے۔ میر درد ؎ وحدت میں تیری حرف دوئی کا نہ آسکے آئینہ کیا مجال تجھے منھ دکھا سکے
